Argyrozona argyrozona, the carpenter seabream, is a marine spiny fish in the family Sparidae, first described by Achille Valenciennes in 1830.[1]
Description
Silvery pink with about seven pale blue horizontal stripes. Size can reach over 80 cm with weight of 5 kg at age over 30 years, but more than 50 cm is very rare. Matures at about 26 cm and spawns from December to April.[2][3]
Distribution and habitat
Endemic, Table Bay to north Eastern Cape.[2][3] Adults found on rocky reefs from 50 to 200m depth.[2]
